Here are some of the events happening around Ventura County this month.
VENTURA ART AND STREET PAINTING FESTIVAL
The 9th Annual Ventura Art and Street Painting Festival (VASPF) is back at the Ventura Harbor Village, Sept. 7th & 8th from 10am to 5pm. This is an amazing weekend to enjoy art, street painting and the beauty of the Ventura County coast. Admission & Parking are free!
Thirty-five artists will be showcasing their work in the artist’s area near harbor restaurants, including paintings, pottery, photography and jewelry all available for purchase. Additionally, the sidewalks along the water will be the canvas for approx. 35 street artists who will be creating colorful chalk pastel murals ranging from approximately 10×5 ft. to 10×10 ft in size.
Children can join in and create their own art as well in the Children’s Chalk Area run by The Boys and Girls Club of Ventura County. For $10, kids get a small box of chalk and a sidewalk square where they can create their own colorful work of art.
The festival is a fundraiser for local charities hosted by Ventura County Art Events, Inc. To date, the organization has donated $60,000 to FOOD Share of Ventura County.
FAIRY TALES IN THE PARK
Every May through September, Gypsies in a Trunk performs free fairy tales at various locations throughout Ventura County. Their goal is to bring free entertainment to children and their families and hopefully to help grow love and appreciation for live theater. Performances are always held outdoors and there may not always be shade available, so attendees are encouraged to plan accordingly. Shows run approximately 45 minutes longs and pets are requested to be left at home. September will feature the group performing “The Snow Queen: A Frozen Adventure” at the following locations:

THE DINNER DETECTIVE
Each weekend in September, The Dinner Detective will be happening on Saturday at The Gardens at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks. The Dinner Detective is a murder mystery show that will be sure to keep everyone entertained. Performing since 2004, The Dinner Detective holds shows in various cities throughout multiples states. CARE FOR KIDS GOLF CLASSIC
Hosted by The Camarillo Rotary Club, this annual favorite tournament has raised more than $1.4 million for Casa Pacifica and local charities! Golfers will hit the greens at the exclusive Spanish Hills Golf & Country Club in Camarillo on Monday, Sept 9th.

VENTURA COUNTY COASTAL CLEANUP DAY
The 35th annual California Coastal Cleanup Day in Ventura is on Saturday, Sept. 21st from 9 am to noon. Estimated to draw a crowd of over 60,000 people, volunteers can choose from one of approximately 26 sites in Ventura County to help remove debris from the county’s beaches. Volunteer just 3 hours of your Saturday morning to remove debris from beaches, creeks, rivers, and parks to protect wildlife from harm while taking care of our environment. Last year, almost 13,000 pounds of trash and recyclables were collected in Ventura County
CAMARILLO SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
Enjoy free concerts at Constitution Park in Camarillo, presented by Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District and the City of Camarillo. On Saturday, September 21, L.A. Vation, a U2 tribute band (Rock & Roll), will be performing at 7:30 PM.
Blanket and chair placement by guests will be available starting at 5:00pm on the Friday before each concert date with no supervision. Should guests leave items prior to 5:00pm on Friday, the City will collect and place these items to the side of the stage. Guests are still authorized to stay with their items throughout the day Friday, a common practice in previous years.
The following food trucks will be available to purchase food. Arrive early and enjoy a delicious meal or treat from one of these food trucks. They will be set up and ready to serve at 5pm.

4TH ANNUAL ELECTRIC CAR SHOW
The Channel Islands Harbor will host the 4th Annual Electric Car Show from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Harbor View Park.
If you are interested in electric vehicles and would like to learn more, plan to visit and check out the variety of makes and models that will be on display. Talk to electric vehicle owners and learn from their experiences. Learn about very low cost commuting that also lowers air pollution.
If you are an electric vehicle owner – register and bring your car to the event. Share your real life experience about driving an electric vehicle with others in your community and network with other electric vehicle drivers and educate the public about the advantages of electric vehicle use and ownership. This is an opportunity for us to come together to make connections and influence change.
#TBT FOOD TRUCK FEST
There’s no better way to spend a #throwbackthursday than at the historic Camarillo Ranch for #TBT Food Truck Fest! Join the festivities from 5-9pm on Thursday, Sept 26th for food trucks, local beer, live entertainment and more! Admission is FREE and money spent at the event helps support the Camarillo Ranch Foundation.

BANANA FESTIVAL
The Port of Hueneme will be hosing the Banana Festival on Saturday, Sept 28th from 10 AM to 6 PM. There is FREE admission and parking. Some of the activities include:
PORT TOURS – Learn about the inner-workings of the port! Tours by land and sea scheduled hourly.
KIDS ZONE – Kids can enjoy bounce houses, bungee, games, reptile exhibits and do banana crafts.
LIVE BANDS – Rock out to tunes from local bands that will get you grooving and shakin’ it on the dance floor.
TASTY EATS – Mouthwatering sandwiches, sushi wraps, banana splits and shakes, funnel cakes and more.
SHOPPING FUN – Boutique clothing, hand crafted jewelry, garden art, hats, sunglasses, and much more.
6th Annual Wine Walk
Camarillo Old Town Association presents the 6th annual wine walk. More than 25 local business stops along the Boulevard will provide a tasting of some of the best Wineries and local Craft Breweries!
Come and stroll Old Town Camarillo on September 29th from 1pm to 4pm! There will be more than 25 local businesses, up and down Ventura Boulevard, providing live music and a tasting of local Wineries and Craft Breweries!
Tickets are $40 pre-sale and will be $45 the day of the event if available. General admission includes a wine glass, wine, beer and entertainment.
Attendees must be 21 years or older.
Event check-in starts at noon at Studio Channel Islands Art Center, 2222 Ventura Blvd. Street parking is available.
